Split is a passion project that my brother-in-law and I built for fun. We both love going to the gym and following our favorite fitness creators to train like them and gain new insight and how to get stronger and achieve our goals in the gym.
We used Split to try our hand at entrepreneurship and launching a new product. It was a ton of fun and we learned so much throughout the process!

The basic idea for Split was to be the fitness version of Patreon. We wanted to build a mobile experience for fitness creators to share their workouts with subscribers, and for those subscribers to have a crisp app experience going through those workouts.
I designed a full app experience for MVP that allowed users to subscribe to their favorite creator, start a workout program, and progress through video based workouts in the gym.
We ultimately wanted this app to feel crisp yet simple, and to address some of the issues we noticed with a lot of the other fitness apps in the industry.
The app also included tools that allowed creators to build workouts as they did them directly in the gym from the app.
results
We built a full MVP and onboarded our first creators to test the app and provide feedback. Our beta users were awesome and gave us great feedback, but it never really took off.
Additionally, my brother-in-law and I were both promoted at our day jobs and took on a lot more responsibility, which ultimately led us to deciding to wind things down with Split.
It was a ton of fun to build this from scratch as a passion project!
